Big shoes...Little feet
As moms, we have a big job. We cook. We clean. We serve. We attempt to stay in shape. We taxi kids around. We plan birthdays. We play dress-up, fix puzzles, and we color. We wipe tears...wipe bottoms...wipe spills. We read bedtime stories. We pray. We explain life...we model it. It's easy to get overwhelmed thinking about all the demands of our days and, at times, wander how we do it...or, should I dare say, how well we do it. In our flesh, we climb right up on our high-horse and think "If they only realized how much I do for them...." The question that begs an answer is this... Do we ever stop to think from our children's perspectives; I mean, really get in their shoes and think about their thoughts, their frustrations, their desires, or their to-do lists? Yes, it's a big job being a mom but I think it's just as demanding being a kid. They've got big shoes to fill and little feet to do it!
As I think back on what year 2 had in store for Tillie, my job seems to pale in comparison. Tillie learned to talk...really talk. She altered her mindset about how we potty now that her mom was telling her... "I no longer want you to potty they only way you know how. I want you to use this big, cold, white thing. Better yet, I want you to figure out when you need to use it, how you should use it, and the proper hygiene after you use it." Tillie welcomed another person into her life...into her world. She abdicated her throne as the baby and took a seat on the less glamorous middle-child throne. She learned patience and she learned to reason. She started a whole new school. She made friends and found her first crush. She discovered her opinion and how to relay it. She learned a lot...a whole lot.
I, in the meantime, got to be a part of her growth. I got the joy of watching, the warmth of smiles, the tender tug of tears. I got to grow right along with her!
Every day is a celebration with her in it...
Happy, happy, Tillie Bear!!!
Sad 2 is behind us but thankful 3 stretches before us!

A Proper Introduction
Meet Hunt...my happy, happy little ham! He holds the key to my heart (the pint sized key, that is:)). He is full of smiles, "da-da-da's", and never misses the chance to share his meals...all over me, of course! He's a spitter...but he does it with a smile. He's busy. He's growing (17#). He's mine!
Behold...my little Hunt jr....
And, since I skipped right over his first six months, I couldn't resist including these sweet ones...

The past 6.5 months have passed in the blink of an eye. We're beyond thrilled God gave us a boy...and can't wait to explore life with a mixed bag...of kids, that is:)! Big Hunt couldn't be more excited to have a male to grunt & hunt with; the girls couldn't be more happy to have their baby brother to mommy; and I couldn't be more relieved that bows, panties, tights and DRAMA are taking a back seat!
We love you, little one!

February Fun
January blahs are always lifted once February rolls around at our house. We celebrate three births and a day of love so PINK and SWEET is our theme! We always make a trip to Memphis to celebrate with the fam. This year, me and the kids headed out on Wednesday for a 4-day whirlwind of fun, fun, fun! We kicked it off downtown with a fabulous treat from mom...dinner and the Orpheum...just us girls! "Supercalifragilisticexpalidocious" and "A spoon Full of Sugar" filled our ears as we watched in awe as Mary Poppins came to life on stage! The girls loved Broadway and all that goes along with it! The highlight of the night for Amelia, however, was the aftermath...getting to have a slumber party at Aunt Frannie's! I dropped them off at Frannie's apartment on the river at 11pm (!) and didn't see her again til Friday lunch. Meanwhile, I didn't sleep a wink:)
Friday was Mom's Surprise Birthday Luncheon at Elfo's... Boy did we pull the wool over her eyes! She was shocked and full of tears when she arrived. We celebrated with special friends over a long lunch by the fire. What a blessing to celebrate 60 years of this amazing woman... She is our rock and the most gracious, serving, beautiful woman I know. We love you, Foxie!

We wrapped the celebrating up Saturday night at Sassy and G's with our Treadwell cousins. Sad I didn't have my camera as the 4 big kids were breaking it down to Dreamgirls... Another day!
